A Little Family Project

A while back my middle brother Guy wrote a book.  Now if you know Guy you know it wasn’t because he was driven to be a writer, or that the story was burning in his heart and mind to be told.  That’s just not the kind of person he is.  It was probably much closer to “Hey, that’s a neat idea.  Let’s see if anything comes of it”.  Then he sat down and worked his way through it.  In the end what came of it was a book.  Then he passed it around to several folks to read.  I was one of those people.  He wanted to know if it was worth pursuing.

Oh yes it was.

“I Ain’t No Fool For Love Songs” is the story of a man on his third divorce.  He believes it’s bad karma from a fractured romance back in his college days. So he sets out to repair it.  When he arrives at the doorstep of his former flame she has just been arrested for the murder of her husband. He decides to help even though she doesn’t really seem to want him around. What results is a humorous tale, with a touch of danger, of a man whose intentions may be good, but who truly has no idea what he’s gotten himself involved in.

The story is well written and even gives the author the chance to show off his rather massive knowledge of song lyrics.  So Guy had pretty much everything he needed.  Except a cover.  And that bothered me.  So I decided to do something about it.

I started messing about with ideas and images.  The sheet of music came first.  Then the spot of blood.  Then playing with them to get just the right transparency.  And after a while I came up with something that I thought looked pretty good.  When I sent it off to the author he liked it too.  It’s not perfect but I felt pretty good for a first try.

So here’s what I’d like you to do.

G0 buy it.

It’s quite good and it’s only $2.99.  At the moment it’s only available as an e-book.  But with a Kindle or Nook reader on your computer you can read sitting at your desk or wherever.

Available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble (we are having some difficulty getting the cover to load on the B&N version.  Annoying.  Book is the same though)
